When you have this downloaded, and you have it on your screen, you will see it in the "Places" section on the left-hand side of your screen marked as a "Temporary Place." To keep it permanently, click on the "OlympicVenues.kmz" and then go to Edit > Save to My Places. That will keep it in your My Places folder permanently.
Also, if you mouse over the venues on the map, you'll see a yellow box around them. Click and it will open more info and links to related info.
Boy, I wish I had known about this BEFORE vacation!

Google Earth is fantastic, in that you can actually see land formations.For instance, in Earth Science class, it might be hard to picture what a delta is; in Global class, geography and location is right at your finger tips. I think it always hard for some students to see "the big picture". It should be most helpful to the students who are visual learners.
Using Google Earth as a way to show the Olympic sites is outstanding. So many kids will never experience the true olympics due to cost and location factors. Watching the Olympics on television only allows certain venues to be shown and limits that true presence of where the sports are taking place.
